First Mother's Day

We hope everyone had a great Mother's Day.  We sure did!  Shani's family has celebrated Mother's Day in Yosemite with good friends from all over California every year since she was 4 years old.  This year was especially special because she was being celebrated too.  She has always looked forward to having a family and to taking part in the tradition as a mom. This year was wonderful!

Our best friends, Kevin and Elaine, also joined us from So Cal with their two boys for the first time.  We had a blast!  All of us stayed in a motorhome together and actually got good sleep!  Every year we go on a hike with Shani's family to a waterfall that's a bit off the beaten path.  We took Kev and Elaine on that hike and it was more treacherous than normal due to a recent rock/snow slide. They trusted us (we kind of wonder why too) enough to push through and make it to the top of a waterfall.  Yes we had the little boys with us which is what made it scary and hard.  But we made it!  It meant the world to us that they came along and we couldn't have had more fun.  We hope/expect them to join us in the future once they move back from Michigan (sorry guys :-))!

Landon also turned 12 weeks this week and will be 3 months old on Saturday.  He is now 14lbs 1oz and 25in long.  That's the 70% in weight and 85% for length.  He's quite the growing boy and we love it!   On Thursday he rolled over for the first time from his stomach to his back.  He even went both directions!  He's such a sweet and mellow guy.  Landon did great camping so we look forward to many more trips in the future.  We'll have to see how next year goes as he'll probably be walking.  That won't stop us from going though, we'll just have to make sure he stays away from the campfire!

Happy Easter!

We hope everyone had a wonderful Easter!  We definitely did.  Shani's Grandma, Aunt Tak, and Uncle Bry came into town from LA to visit and meet Landon for the first time.  Uncle Chris also made the trip up as well.  Grandma Mac is also in town for the next few weeks visiting from Colorado.  It's so nice having all the family around!

Chubby Cheeks

Landon is 2 months old.  He's continuing to grow like a weed.  At 9 weeks, he's 12lbs 14oz and 23.25in.  Now those are some chubby cheeks!

In the last couple weeks he's had his first hotel stays.  Two weekends ago we were in Hayward for Shani's chiropractic seminar and this past weekend we were in Palo Alto for John's psychology seminar.  These were also his first "long" drives (i.e., longer than 20 min) and he did great.  Hopefully this is good practice for when we go to Yosemite next month.  Packing for the weekends were quite difficult. We had no idea how much he would need.  We shared a suitcase, but Landon had his own.  Although a majority of the suitcase were his cloth diapers (didn't know how many he actually goes through each day, yes we brought plenty!) he still had quite a few outfits.  Hopefully we'll get this down soon.

Landon also had a play-date with his two girlfriends, Sophia (4 months) and Claire (1 month), and his buddy Lucas (2 years).  Us three moms and our husbands all went to Cal Poly SLO.  Landon finally fit into a onesie we got from there.  It's never too early to indoctrinate your child!

For Christmas Grandma Mac brought some things she found in her trunk that John had when he was a baby.  One of these was an outfit that Shani thought was a Halloween costume.  Boy was she wrong.  Wednesday mornings John gets Landon ready while Shani is at a networking meeting then she swings by and picks him up on the way into work.  Last Wednesday this is what Landon was wearing when she picked him up.

As you can see, Landon has definitely started smiling the last couple of weeks.  He has given us a couple giggles but no belly laughs yet.  He's also started gabbing which is fun to hear.  And he's found his left hand and keeps it close to his mouth.  Does this mean he'll be a lefty?  John hopes so.  He would like him to be a lefty pitcher and have his college paid for.  No pressure!  Anyway, here are some more pictures from the past month!
